Fiestas and Hightlights

  For the people of Olotayan is thankful to God, the people are annually celebrating fiestas or festivals in order to give thanks to their patron saints. The whole island of Olotayan is composed of several Sitios which constructed chapels where in they have different patron saints.

To start the year with blessings, the festival of Sr. Sto. Niño is celebrated on the 29th and the 30th day of January in Sitio Sawang. It is an annual program to have a “Prusisyon Sa Dagat”, where in the Patron Saint is being strolled in the sea of Olotayan iIland to catch blessings. At night, there is a disco party or “binayle” is held for the people. On the 30th and the 31th day of May, the people are celebrating the festival of Our Lady of Fatima in Sitio Lo-oc.

There they held Flores de mayo which is also a tradition for Filipinos. “Binayle” is also held for the people in the night of this date. Sitio Puting Balas celebrates their fiesta on the 1st week of August, and Sitio Capaculan on the 3rd week of August for their Patron Saint Sr. San Roque. On these dates a food festival called “Pakaon sa Plaza” and “kinan-anay” are held as a highlight after a solemn mass in the chapel.
